Styling Webform Blocks

Posted in

We've had a lot of emails about our simple but effective webform block module over the past year. It's great to know it has filled a gap for a lot of Drupal users out there.

One of the common questions we keep getting is about how we styled up the webform to look like our Ixis contact form in the footer of all our site pages.

The answer is simple: adding container tags around sets of the form fields is all you need! This is achieved by adding some additional form API attributes called #prefix (before the content) and #suffix (after the content).

New Year, New Staff

We kicked off the new year with expansion in our web development team to meet the never ending increase in Drupal demand.

During the last 12 months we were turning down work because the team was fully booked every month with client projects, and 2010 has already brought a wave of new clients for both the development and hosting services, so the team expansion could not come at a better time.

The content management platform Drupal powers 100% of Ixis' projects, and has seen a huge increase in adoption from small to International organisations across the world. This growing buzz has lead to a staggering increase in Drupal specific work leads on a daily basis for us here at Ixis IT.

The future's bright, the future's #027AC6

Posted in

If you're actually wondering what #027AC6 is, it's the colour hex code for a certain shade of blue, that of the open source framework Drupal. 2009 was a great year for us, with Drupal now accounting for over 75% of our revenue.

Cardiff Online, the British Council's online coverage of IATEFL 2009 Conference has been announced as a finalist in the 2009 e-Government National Awards.

To strengthen the support capabilities with our clients, Ixis have partnered with Acquia to provide an additional level of support for our clients.

In addition to support we also get access to the additional marketing, branding, and services with Acquia provides. We look forward to a growing partnership as we attract larger Drupal development projects in the years to come.

Acquia Partners include some of the most talented contributors to the Drupal community and have completed successful Drupal projects worldwide for clients large and small. We at Ixis are proud to be amongst the members of the Acquia scheme.

We want PHP/Drupal Developers

After another successful year in the land of Drupal we're pleased to be expanding the development team here at Ixis. We're on the look out for two developers to join us on-site in our Daresbury office in the UK. Your work will be based at our new office and travel to clients is not required.

We work in a relaxed and informal environment, where the ability to manage your time and work load independently is important. You'll often be involved in several projects at the same time, although you may be responsible for a website from start to finish depending on work load.

Windows 7 - is it any good?

Posted in

I have been trialling the 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate Edition release candidate and Beta for a few months now. I thought I would share my experience and thoughts so far.

The test machine is a Dell Dimension E521, AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core 2.2GHz CPU, 2Gb Ram and 250Gb Sata Hard Disk.

First impressions are that it looked liked Vista and I was gonna be in for a bumpy ride. However, I have been pleasantly surprised. The install was painless (although it did take its time) and so far I have no serious issues. It is certainly faster than Vista to boot up and over time has not slowed down like my Vista machine did.

Le Tour de Drupal

On the lead up to Drupalcon Paris in September two insane Drupal developers from the UK are planning to make the 300K journey from London to Paris through the power of pedals.

Chris Maiden of North West based Menus & Blocks will be making the trek to Paris on his Brompton, a bike that folds to the size of a large carrier bag, has 16" wheels and only 3 gears.

Although it's a lot of fun (maybe!), they're hoping to raise at least £1000 for the Meningitis Trust, it's going to be quite a challenge and your donations to help fuel the pedaling power!

Fresh Handy Drupal Modules - July 2009

Posted in

Drupal 6 is seeing some great handy modules being released over the last few months. With the sheer amount of projects being created on drupal.org its a job in itself to keep up with whats already out there. We're increasingly finding there's a module for "that" when a project needs something.

For those who are not familiar with Dropbox then you are missing out on what is the simplest and feature rich file sharing application I have used.

I came across this when I was having trouble with the Windows XP offline files feature. Essentially I had a few users using a mapped drive to a server and then sharing files within. The troublesome bit comes when you want to take these files offline and work on them away from the office. The offline files feature of Windows XP was becoming a constant pain where certain users synchronisation had stopped working or folder structures did not update correctly.
